2.   The importance of Act 3 Scene 1 in the play

You probably also want to act in Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 1 because this scene is so important to the whole story of the play ...

But why is Act 3 Scene 1 so important?

Writers about the play have identified two reasons:

1.   IT IS A TURNING POINT IN THE STORY:

This scene is the point in the play where what had started off looking like a Comedy turns into a Tragedy.   It is the point in the story where love turns to death and romance turns to murder - where Romeo turns from a lover into a murderer - where Romeo starts off telling Tybalt that he loves him ... and finishes by killing him - and where Mercutio starts off defending Romeo and ends up cursing him.
