Moniza Alvi - Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan
Moniza Alvi was born in Pakistan in 1954.
Her father was Pakistani and her mother was English.
When she was still a baby, the family moved to live in England.
She did not go back to Pakistan until AFTER she had written
the poem, Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan.
The poem remembers what she felt like when she was
about 13 years old.
She went to University, and became a teacher.
She became a full-time poet in 1991after winning a prize for
Presents from my Aunts in Paksitan.
